Following reports that the government of Tajikistan had required 367 people to register and undergo medical testing because of their sexual orientation, our Ambassador made representations to the Tajik Ministry of Foreign Affairs about Tajikistan's international commitments to combat all forms of discrimination.

In addition, our delegation to the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) in Vienna took the lead in drafting and submitting an EU statement at the OSCE Permanent Council. The statement raised our concerns and urged the Tajik authorities to ensure the safety and security of all its citizens including those identifying as LGBTQ.
