Abortion: Disability

Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, whether his Department has plans to review the occurrence of abortion in cases of (a) disability and (b) correctible conditions including cleft lip, cleft palate and club foot up to birth.

The Department has no current plans to review the occurrence of abortion in these cases. There is no requirement for the Department to review abortions which occur after a prenatal diagnosis of Down’s syndrome.
