Question to the Department for Work and Pensions:

To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, what estimate he has made of the number of people who have been awarded the enhanced rate of the mobility component of personal independence payment on the basis of psychological distress when planning and undertaking a new or familiar journey.

We only hold data on claimants’ primary conditions. Since psychological distress is a symptom of multiple physical and mental health conditions we are unable to provide a breakdown of the number of claimants suffering from psychological distress who have been awarded the enhanced Mobility rate.
