Termination of Employment: Commuters

Question to the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy:

To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, whether her Department holds data on the number of commuters whose employment was terminated as a result of those people being unable to attend work as a result of disruption caused by protests in 2021.

The Department does not collect this information. However, we expect employers and employees to behave reasonably in relation to travel disruption and discuss whether it is possible to work from home, take leave or make the time up later if they cannot get to work because of travel disruption.
