The Government is fully aware of the importance of energy costs for the UK steel industry, and we are acting to keep them as low as possible. To date, the Government has paid over £190 million in compensation to the steel sector since 2013 to compensate for the cumulative impact of energy and climate change policies on industrial electricity prices.
