I can confirm that six local authorities have been asked for further detailed information regarding work to ensure fire safety in tower blocks, following initial conversations with DCLG. We have been clear that we expect building owners to fund fire safety measures, but councils should contact us if they have any concerns about funding fire safety works.

Where works are necessary to ensure the fire safety of a building, we will ensure that lack of financial resources will not prevent them going ahead. It is a matter for local authorities to communicate with their residents what work is being proposed, and as such I cannot provide the names of specific local authorities.
