Officials from our Embassy in Tel Aviv have discussed the situation in Syria with the Israeli authorities on several occasions. Our Ambassador to Israel raised the issue with the Israeli Defence Minister on 27 August and more recently with officials from the Israeli National Security Council on 9 September. The Prime Minister, my right hon. Friend the Member for Witney (David Cameron), and the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, my right hon. Friend the Member for Runnymede and Weybridge (Philip Hammond) discussed security in the region with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu on 10 September.
