It is scientifically proven that teenagers have Melatonin later at night and later in the morning. To maximise performance in schools, I believe that a decent amount of sleep is a large factors. Whilst teenagers should be getting 8 hours of sleep, many of us are not and having secondary schools start later would greatly benefit pupils and schools. Sleep deprivation can also cause multiple health problems which can put pressure on the NHS.
