Wednesday 21st June 2023

Asked by: Theresa Villiers (Conservative - Chipping Barnet)

Question to the Northern Ireland Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, what steps he is taking to promote inward investment into Northern Ireland.

Answered by Steve Baker - Minister of State (Northern Ireland Office)

The Northern Ireland economy has the ingredients required for economic success: exceptional talent, creativity, and innovation.

In partnership with the Department for Business and Trade, we are hosting the Northern Ireland Investment Summit on the 12 and 13 September in Belfast. This will be the perfect opportunity for Northern Ireland to demonstrate its potential to the world as part of the UK Government’s programme to mark the 25th anniversary year of the Belfast/Good Friday Agreement.

Customs: Northern Ireland
Wednesday 2nd September 2020

Asked by: Theresa Villiers (Conservative - Chipping Barnet)

Question to the Northern Ireland Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, what steps he is taking to minimise the costs to Northern Ireland businesses of complying with the requirements of the Northern Ireland Protocol.

Answered by Robin Walker

We are committed to working closely with businesses as we implement the Protocol - they are at the heart of our approach. This is why we established the Business Engagement Forum and why we recently announced the introduction of the Trader Support Service.

This unique service will provide extensive support, guiding traders through all import processes at no additional cost. Backed by £200m in Government funding, this will ensure that businesses of all sizes can draw on the support it provides.

Northern Ireland Government
Wednesday 6th March 2019

Asked by: Theresa Villiers (Conservative - Chipping Barnet)

Question to the Northern Ireland Office:

What steps she is taking to seek the restoration of power-sharing devolved government in Northern Ireland.

Answered by Karen Bradley

I am working closely with the main Northern Ireland parties to restore devolved government. I met the five main political parties on 15 February, and again - with the exception of one party - on 1 March. Northern Ireland needs a functioning Executive and Assembly and that is what this Government is determined to achieve.
