The Levelling Up Fund is one of a number of Government interventions designed to level up all parts of the UK. Through the Levelling Up Fund we have prioritised funding to areas most in need.

Our analysis of need takes into account a range of factors including skills, pay, productivity, transport connectivity and regeneration.

Government’s Roadmap to a Digital Future includes digital transformation in Government by “automating manual processes”. The Department continues to automate manual processes in order to drive greater efficiency and deliver maximum value for the taxpayer.

To ask the Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, with reference to the oral contribution of the Minister for Data and Digital Infrastructure of 14 June 2023 at Topical Questions, T7, Official Report, column 286, what plans his Department has to (a) utilise the provisions in Part 3 of the Data Protection and Digital Information (No. 2) Bill and (b) use smart data in new sectors.

There is exciting potential to explore Smart Data in further sectors, beyond Open Banking. Government, regulators and industry experts are working together via the Smart Data Council to ensure that the UK continues to be at the forefront of developments in this space, and any announcements will be made in the usual way.

To ask the Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, pursuant to the Answer of 2 February 2023 to Question 148763 on Levelling Up Fund, how the remaining money was (a) spent and (b) otherwise allocated.

I refer the Hon. Member to the answer I gave to Question UIN 148762. On 23 February 2023. As confirmed in that response, £3.8 billion of the total £4.8 billion Levelling Up Fund has been allocated over rounds 1 and round 2 of the Fund.

As set out in the Written Ministerial Statement of 19th January, there will be a further round of the Levelling Up Fund, providing more opportunity to level up places across the UK. We will provide more information on this in due course.
