I think the government needs to raise the threshold for paying more vehicle excise duty (VED) from a £40,000 to £50,000 car cost price. This could allow lower paid people to buy luxury vehicles and not penalise them with what we believe is an extortionate tax that has nothing to do with emissions.
Make direct debits for vehicle tax payable throughout the month
- 23 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 171 - 2 added in the past 24hrs)
Vehicle tax can only be paid via direct debit on the first day of each month. The Government should require the DVLA to allow direct debits for vehicle tax to be payable on any day of the month.
Rebate scheme for pensioners buying electric cars
- 111 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 150 - 2 added in the past 24hrs)
I would like the Government to implement a rebate scheme for pensioners who buy electric cars. Many employed people have access to salary sacrifice schemes, so I think there should be an equivalent scheme for pensioners.
Create a state-owned car insurance provider

Car insurers appear to be able to charge what they like, which we believe has resulted in unfair insurance prices for many. Creating a state-owned car insurance provider could help ease pressure on working people who are struggling to afford basic necessities.
Require elected representatives and public servants use zero emission travel
- 14 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 144 - 2 added in the past 24hrs)
The aim is Net Zero by 2050. But targets have been delayed for BEV and heat pumps already. We want the Government to lead by example and introduce new requirements for others by passing legislation to require elected representatives and public servants use zero emission travel.
Require driving licence suspensions after collisions until investigation is over

I would like anyone who is involved in a serious road traffic collision to have their licence suspended until any police investigation is concluded.
Ban private jets

(Estimated Final Signatures: 142 - 1 added in the past 24hrs)
The climate crisis is well underway, and we are concerned our trajectory is heading to societal breakdown. Oxfam has said that the richest 1% are responsible for around 16% of CO2 emissions. Private jets are incredibly wasteful. Ban their use immediately.
Increase threshold for car tax surcharge to cars with a list price of £45,000
- 72 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 139 - 2 added in the past 24hrs)
We ask the government to raise the threshold for the additional £390 tax from cars with a list price of £40000 to those with a list price of £45000. Many households needing to buy new family sized cars will already be stretching to pay the cost, let alone an extra £32.50 a month.
Make "Close Passes" by drivers a specific traffic offence
- 122 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 138 - 1 added in the past 24hrs)
A Close Pass can lead to death or incidents where cyclists receive life-changing injuries.
Mandate robust safety posts at bus stops to prevent fatal accidents

(Estimated Final Signatures: 135 - 1 added in the past 24hrs)
My son Logan's death highlights the need for bus stop safety. We believe our loss and others affected by bus stop deaths could have been avoided by installing crash bollards. We want urgent action to prioritise pedestrian safety at stops, installing bollard and posts to prevent vehicle collisions.
